On the upside, it should feel comfortable due to the plushy wrist rest and shouldn't cause any fatigue. G513 is a high-performance gaming keyboard featuring your choice of advanced GX mechanical switches. There is a little bleed around the bottom of the caps, but everything generally feels remarkably restrained yet bright.

Note that Cherry rates its key switches in centi-newtons, but the two units of measurement are almost exactly equivalent, close enough for rule-of-thumb comparisons. The opportunities are endless, considering that profiles can be tied to any of the four lighting modes. I also love the Logitech G LightSync technology which allows to customize individual keys to have its own RGB lighting. If you do end up toting it around, you'll appreciate that stemming from the back edge is a thick rubber reinforcement for the 6-foot braided USB cable, protecting the flex joint where it emerges from the chassis. This isn’t a dealbreaker by any measure but a lack of dedicated media keys in a gaming keyboard in 2019 feels like a terrible missed opportunity. The display of third-party trademarks and trade names on this site does not necessarily indicate any affiliation or the endorsement of PCMag. on the sides and dust can easily accumulate inside but at the same time this makes the keyboard much easier to clean and maintain. With the G513 we don’t have a volume scroll wheel or dedicated media buttons but instead we find the “Fn” key + F5-F12 for controlling those option (also print screen, scroll lock and pause have dual functions).

For gaming, the Logitech G513 scores better than the Logitech G613 LIGHTSPEED mainly because the G513 has backlighting and the G613 doesn't. Create it in Windows, save it to the keyboard, and you can use that preset anywhere — even in Linux! The main difference is that the Razer's Linear Optical switches have a shorter pre-travel distance and much lower operating force than the Romer-G Tactile switches on our Logitech unit, making them feel more responsive. There are some cable management options underneath the main deck, running through the plastic chassis, but I found these largely redundant considering the thick, unwieldy cable hardwired into the top, and the limited routing options provided. On paper, the Logitech G513 Carbon is a typical 101-key typer, with 12 additional keycaps available in the box (replacements for the WASD and function keys); these have angled tops for your fingers to distinguish by feel. However, the Razer's incredible responsiveness also makes it less ideal for general typing because the keys are overly sensitive, which leads to more typos.

While the G513's feature list may have been enough to set it apart from its competition back in 2018, things aren't quite so simple these days. Logitech’s approach is different from, say, the Razer Huntsman Elite, in that the palm rest doesn’t attach to the keyboard in any way. The G513 Carbon features a nice anodized aluminum finish while the G513 Silver has a sleek classy and stunning look to it which I really like. Not only that, but under the hood you'll find Logitech's durable GX switches, which manage to evade that scratchy feel sometimes felt in Cherry models that are plugged into the vast majority of decks. The Logitech Gaming Software can be used for managing all Logitech accessories, such as mice, keyboards, and headsets. So the Logitech G513 is a sort of carbon-fibre coloured rectangle with raised keys and an exposed backplate. The Logitech G513 gaming keyboard's build quality is good and is very similar to the Logitech G512 Special Edition and Logitech G413. However, the K845 has a longer pre-travel distance, which should help prevent typos, and it's fully compatible with Linux. I also did not take into account the actuation force to make such a difference in overall feel for keyboard.

It’s also weirdly quiet for a mechanical keyboard without compromising on key quality, which is particularly impressive. With the software you can chose different profiles for each game individually or set general profiles. Therefore, all systems are measured for the effective energy consumption in the respective usage scenario and indicated with the maximum load.
