Description

This was one well written novel with an interesting take on many things including mental illness as well as hypnosis and psychiatry and its patients in general.

Like all of the other books in this series, this one is self contained and can be read as a stand-alone as there are no loose ends left to tie up. I was gripped more by the first two chapters of this book than the entirety of the last three books i have.

At first, it is unclear how these two play a role in the plot, until the police discover that Martin was present and witnessed Jenny Lind’s murder while out walking his dog. In a novel that is as intense as it is dark, the story pulls the reader into levels of depravity never thought imaginable. It seems almost impossible for the police to get him to reveal what he saw the night Jenny’s body was disposed of. When Jenny’s body is found hanging in a playground five years later, questions emerge as to where she has been and how she make it to the playground.

We never see events from Caesar’s point-of-view, and as such his characterization is left up to the perceptions of the people who encounter him. After giving 5 stars to the previous book in this series I am bummed to give so few stars to this one here, but it's just the way it has to be as Mirror Man was uneven at best and needlessly crude and uninspired at its worst. From the 17 million copy global bestseller Lars Kepler comes the darkest, most chilling crime thriller of the year - perfect for fans of Jo Nesbo, Ragnar Jonasson, and Alex North's The Whisper Man. Overall, this was an intense, dark, and gritty story with complex characters that kept me turning the pages.

She is totally removed from the story in every other regard, robbing readers of a potentially great storyline involving her recovery after the events of the previous novel. A young girl is kidnapped in plain sight and taken into custody, where she is locked away with a number of others. Keen eyed readers of this book series will notice by now that this review has yet to mention a certain character. And this murderer in particular is very monstrous in the way that he and his mother have teenaged girls kidnapped, locked up in animal cages, and raped for YEARS) until they may or may not end up brutally killed. Like I said these authors keep things smooth but the setting of the table took some time and hopped around a bit.

While the books do embrace the trope of a single characters who is needed to solve every problem, Joona is not perfect. There is often a fine line between insanity and evil and the psychiatry profession tries to do their best to fix these twisted people, but as this novel teaches us, that profession somehow cannot fathom how treacherous evil can be and how the analytical tools of the profession are simply insufficient to deal with those too clever to be cured. If you’re new to this series as well, I can definitely say that you can easily read this book as a standalone. Galvoju, kad iš esmės man patinka Lars Kepler knygos – tokie perdėti trileriai su daug veiksmo ir žiaurių vaizdų (dabar kiek išstumti iš mados namudinių / psichologinių).Jenny Lind wurde an einem Klettergerüst erhängt, letzte Rettungsversuche einer zufällig vorbeigehenden Zeugin waren erfolglos.
